Living a Fairytale: http://mattandchrissie11dec.blogspot.com/
Matt and I met in 2004 at a camp organized by our Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We didn’t really pay much attention to each other until we were both 16 and became friends... We got to know each other through msn because we lived an hour apart from each other and probably saw each other about once a month. For me, I knew Matt was special right away, for him it took a little longer and we began dating in July 2007. After a few dates we became an “item” in August 2007. We shared our first kiss in the October.
After a year of dating, Matt was called on a Mission for our Church. He was to serve for two years. During that time, we were allowed just four phone calls (Christmases and Mother’s Days) and could not see each other, so we wrote to each other each week and recorded tapes to send to one another. While Matt was away, and I waited, we both grew individually and together in our love for each other. It was one of the best decisions I made in my life, to wait. I can say I am a stronger person because of it.
In August 2010, Matt returned home from his Mission. It was amazing how natural it was, almost like he never left at times. Within five days, on our three year anniversary, Matt proposed and I said yes! He took me to a park we used to hang out in a lot before he had gone on his Mission... I suspected nothing (although we had talked about marriage in the letters and tapes we sent). After reaching the playground, Matt quickly scanned the area and gave me a letter, full of lovey duvey mushy stuff :) The funny part of it is, I didn’t read to the end... (which said I just have one thing to ask) so I was still super surprised when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him – of course I said yes! He didn’t have an engagement ring for me yet so he used a ring he had bought me while he was on his Mission to represent my promise to wait. We stood in the rain in complete happiness. Eventually we headed back to the car where Matt produced a bottle of schloer, two wine glasses and a box of chocolates to celebrate. We went straight to my parents home to tell them the news then went to pick out the ring. The ring I wanted was a perfect fit so we didn’t even have to get it sized! Once we got my ring, we went to Matt’s parents to tell them – but they already knew because Matt told them his intentions :)
About four months later, on December 11th 2010, we got married at one of the Chapels of our Church and were sealed for eternity at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Preston England Temple.
